Suddenly I see this fantastic burst of color on EDSA.
I’m usually asleep on my daily morning EDSA commute to work, so I often miss seeing the new billboards and other highway ‘décor’. But the other day, I saw new MMDA Art as I was heading southbound on EDSA.
You’ve got to hand it to BF (Bayani Fernando, MMDA Chairman, for some of you folks who don’t know). He does try, which gives him points in my book. MMDA Art is an effort, of course, to combat real graffiti that can be considered city eyesores. While the colorful circles and squares does not paint Manila into a breathing art exhibit, it does give our uniformed boys a canvas to channel whatever creative energies they have (and erase offending graffiti).
I just wish they had more shapes (and images) other than circles and squares on their minds.
There is talk that Team Manila is being tapped for a possible collaboration with MMDA Art. Now that is something that I want to see. Soon, I hope.
