Hainanese Chicken
In brief: If you’re asked what type of food is served at Wild Ginger, you may be hard pressed to find the correct answer. Wild Ginger is a Southeast Asian fusion restaurant whose name is rather misleading, since only two of the meals in their menu are actually served with ginger: the Hainanese Chicken (P265) and the Wild Ginger Chicken Adobo (P165). The former is a steamed half-piece chicken (with rice and soup) good for at least two people, while the latter is a small bowl of a traditional Pinoy delicacy that is mildly spicy but manages to avoid a sodium overkill. The presence of ginger is a necessity to the meals as it adds a flavorful twist to both, making them more appealing to your taste buds.
Insider Tips: Make sure to order the buko juice (from Lipa - love that stuff!) as their iced-tea has an over abundance of melting ice cubes, diluting all of the tea’s sweetness. Don’t fret if you’re a vegetarian - try out their Tofu Salad with Peanut Sauce (P155). This dish mixes lettuce, bean sprouts and cucumber, and is a perfect alternative for the health-conscious and meat-averse diners.
Wild Ginger is located at the Power Plant Mall, Rockwell Center, Hidalgo cor. Estrella St., Makati City with telephone number 898-1859.
